WELCOME TO THE 2009 GLENCOE GRAND PRIX!
Dear Rider,
Welcome to the third annual Glencoe Grand Prix. Hard to believe we’ve been at this three years already. We are pleased to continue our partnership with AT&T and Alberto’s Bike shop and are also pleased to announce a new partnership with First Bank of Highland Park. An independent, professionally run community bank focused on its customers fits right in with the GGP’s commitment to putting its customers needs, the cyclists, above all else.
In
2009, some things have stayed the same.
• Categories are unchanged as are purses, which we're proud to announce in these uncertain times.
• Primes will be plentiful including gift certificates and bottles of wine.
• SRAM will provide neutral support.
• Ultramax Events will provide chip timing.
• The GGP is again part of the IL Cup.
• The EJ’s Place Sprint Points Competition is back.
• Winner’s jerseys will be awarded.
• A hospitality tent will be available to racers.
• A medical tent will be available to racers (hopefully not needed!).
• Framed race photos will be available for purchase.
What’s new for 2009?
We’re pleased to announce a special program that allows racers to race for free if they sign up for AT&T services through the GGP website. More details can be found on the home page of the GGP Website.
• We’ve created a RACE BIBLE available for download.
• As a result of our survey, we created a rider profile that can be filled out and submitted to us with rider’s details to be used on race day.
• We listened to rider concerns within the survey and this year, the noontime kid races are free.
• We’re pleased to announce the GGP is now part of a larger 3-day festival called Glencoe Summerfest. Details can be found on the GGP home page.
• Summerfest includes a Saturday night block party with live music, food and games. To aid registration for Sunday, any rider who pre-registered or wants to register can do so Saturday night from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Alberto’s tent (near the traditional start-finish line). You can get your number and have your timing chip affixed to your bike so you don’t have to worry about it race day. And you can stick around if you want!
