Glencoe Grand Prix ADDED to Illinois Cup Race
The Glencoe Grand Prix is proud to be part of the Illinois Cup. Due to our purse sizes and the success we experienced last year, our race earns 1.5 the normal points awarded in a Cup race!
The Illinois Cup is a season long series with races throughout the state of Illinois. Both individual and team standings will be maintained based on rider category. Much like the World Cup in professional racing, points will be awarded at each Illinois Cup event and accumulated through out the year. At the end of the year, the overall winners in each category will be recognized and awarded an Illinois Cup Champions jersey. Overall Team winners in each category will receive the Illinois Cup Trophy.
Please note that IL Cup points will be awarded to the Cat 4s in the women’s Cat 3 – 4 race. Cat 3 women are of course welcome to race the Cat 3- 4 race, but those Cat 3s wishing to earn points must race the Pro, 1,2,3 race.
Additionally for those men competing for points in the Master’s categories, you will be assigned by default into your racing age. Points will be awarded by age in the 30+ race Cat 4-5 two ways: 30+ Cat 4-5 and 40+ Cat 4-5 even though only one winner will be determined. Similarly, the 30+ Cat 1,2,3 race will also award Cup points two ways: 30+ Cat 1,2,3 and 40+ Cat 1,2,3, again, even though there will be one race winner.
This is also true now for the women’s 3-4 race. Although one winner will be determined, IL Cup points will be awarded for the Women’s Masters 35+ and Women’s Master’s 45+ categories in addition to the Women’s 4 category.
Finally, this is also true for the Men’s Masters 45+ race. IL Cup points will be awarded for the Men’s Masters 50+ and Masters 60+ in this race.
Registrants will automatically be scored for IL Cup points according to age within the race(s) they choose to ride. For more information on the Illinois Cup, please click on the IC logo.
